Medical Aid in Dying
Olympia Hospice aims to provide as much comfort and dignity to the lives of our patients.
We also know, that there may come a time when a person’s suffering is so severe or unbearable that medication will be ineffective. We therefore support the implementation of California’s End of Life Option Act as it gives qualified patients an opportunity to obtain a prescription for the End of Life medication.
We fully embrace the act and pass no judgment to those who seek it.

What is the Act?
The Aid in Dying Act is legal in California as of June 2016, where anyone with a terminal illness may utilize the Act under the rules and guidelines of the Act.
Who Qualifies For The Act
- Individuals 18 years old or older living in California.
- Diagnosed with a terminal illness by their primary physician.
- Be capable to make medical decisions for themselves as determined by health professionals.
- Voluntarily request the prescription without being influenced by others.
- Individual must be capable to make medical decision per his or her self (determined by physiscian).
- Individual must be capable to self-administer the medication.
When Is One Ready To Take It?
- Upon completion of the three MD telehealth calls prescription will be sent out to pharmacy and delivered to patients house next day.
